Abstract
Several compressionschemesfor Internet video utilize block-basedconditional replenishment (CR) where block updates are coded independentlyof the past. In the current Internet video tools, blocksare compressed with a single-layer representation. We propose anew approach that compressesimage blocks using a layered representation. Our Layered-DCT (LDCT) compression algorithm, derivedfrom progressive JPEG, has been combined with CR and optimizedfor efficient software implementation to provide ...Keywords
