Abstract
SIR—The recently published study by Gutiérrez et al. [1] provides additional information on the performance of the NOW Streptococcus pneumoniae urinary antigen test (Binax) and confirms the findings of other studies [2, 3]. For adults with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), the test has an estimated sensitivity of 75%–85% among bacteremic patients and 50%–80% among nonbacteremic patients. Keywords
