Abstract
The amounts of zinc‐65 accumulated from water and from food by flounder, Paralichthys sp., were measured and compared. When concentration factors were calculated, it was found that flounder concentrated zinc‐65 to higher levels from food than from water. The initial rate of accumulation of zinc‐65 from water was dependent on the concentration of the radionuclide in the water. Results of experiments reported indicate that the transfer of zinc‐65 through the food chain is a more important pathway of accumulation for fish than direct accumulation from water. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
