Treatment of Salivary Gland Neoplasms With Fast Neutron Radiotherapy

Abstract
SALIVARY GLAND malignancies are relatively rare entities, accounting for approximately 5% of all head and neck cancers.1,2 Treatment of these tumors generally involves surgical resection followed by the use of postoperative radiotherapy for incompletely resected tumors or those with other high-risk factors such as perineural invasion, bone invasion, and lymph node involvement.3-9 The use of postoperative irradiation has been shown to improve local-regional control and survival, particularly in advanced-stage disease (stages III and IV).3-10
