Abstract
Compression of higher-order (N ≃ 3) soliton pulses in standard singlemode fibre followed by compression in short dispersion decreasing fibre (DDF) can produce ultra-short fundamental solitons. This design scheme uniquely enables high-quality compression of broad pulses (< 30 ps) down to < 142 fs over a wide input wavelength range using a remarkably short DDF (< 455 m).Keywords
