Abstract

The ultraviolet spectra of the halogen azides ClN₃, BrN₃ and IN₃ were recorded in hexane solution as well as in carbon tetrachloride solution. The spectra are in agreement with Cs-symmetry of the XN₃ species and correspond well with other covalent azides.
