Abstract
The interaction mean free paths in nuclear emulsion of relativistic projectile fragments, , emitted from heavy-ion beams of and at an energy of ∼2 GeV/nucleon have been measured, and they gave evidence for anomalously shorter mean free paths in the first 2-3 cm after their production than at larger distances. Some characteristics of the primary and the secondary interactions connected with the anomaly are presented.
