Abstract
We have carried out simulations of the three-dimensional (3-D) liquid director structures of multi-domain homeotropic (MDH) liquid crystal (LC) cells. Based on the calculated 3-D LC director structures, the maximum pixel averaged optical transmissions of the MDH liquid crystal cells have also been computed. Information regarding the 3-D LC director structures and the maximum pixel averaged optical transmissions is used to evaluate the optical performances of various pixel electrode structure for the MDH LC cells. Keywords
