Automated Simulated Distillation of Heavy Petroleum Fractions by Packed Column Gas Chromatography

Abstract
An automated packed column gas chromatographic (GC) method for performing simulated distillation of heavy petroleum fractions employing a temperature programmable injection port is described. Internal standards are used to determine the noneluted materials with a boiling point greater than 615°C (nC60). The method compares favorably with true distillation data.
