Percus-Yevick Isotherm for the Exp-6 Intermolecular Potential

Abstract
The Percus-Yevick equation has been solved by numerical integration for the 55°C isotherm of argon. The results are compared with calculations using the Lennard-Jones potential, both for the Percus-Yevick equation and for Monte Carlo calculations. Agreement is fair, with the L-J potential being superior in some regions and inferior in others. All of these calculations are compared with experiment with poor results. By dropping the value of α to 13.7, significantly better agreement with high-density experiments is obtained, at the expense of worse second-virial coefficients.
