Abstract
A survey is given of the factors isolated from platelets. The role which the greater part of these factors play in different phases of the clotting process is mentioned. The double role of factor 3 in this respect is discussed in detail. Hemorrhagic diathesis characterized by a lack of factor 3 is described. The significance of factor 3 for thromboplastin formation was demonstrated by the fact that in combination with anti-hemophilic factor and PTC-factor, factor 3 could form an active thromboplastin. Newer methods for the preparation of concentration of functionally normal platelets are mentioned. Some results obtained in thrombocytopenic and thrombopathic conditions with transfusions of platelet-suspensions are mentioned. Keywords
