Abstract
At various times during the past 50 years many workers have been concerned with the detection of malaria antibody. Much of the interest has been centered around the development of a serological technique that would aid in the diagnosis of malaria. Many investigators felt that a practical method of detecting antibody might be helpful in the early diagnosis of the disease before parasites were evident or during the various phases of the infection when the parasites were so few in number that they could not be detected readily in thick blood films. In any particular case or any group of individuals exposed to malaria, it would be of value to know their antibody status. In order that we may explore new approaches to methods for the detection of malaria antibodies, it is necessary to summarize the existing information. Precipitin, Agglutination and Hemagglutination Reactions. The early attempts to detect precipitins in malaria were unsuccessful.Keywords
