Abstract
The reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome is a very common, poorly recognized syndrome which is associated with marked disability in some cases. The historical aspects, current ideas about the pathogenesis and pathophysiology, clinical features and staging are discussed. Early recognition and appropriate intervention are the cornerstone of successful treatment and are also discussed.Keywords
