Abstract
This paper introduces patient state and physician state of information as two unifying concepts for the analysis of health-care systems. The concepts are presented in the context of four specific problem areas. As a demonstration of the utility of these concepts, a technique for evaluating alternative facility macroplans is described and some results from an actual application are presented and reviewed. Keywords
