Abstract
In this paper the characteristics of two different types of switched reluctance motors have been pre-determined using a two dimensional finite element analysis and compared. A motor with one tooth per stator pole and another with two teeth per stator pole are considered for analysis. The terminal inductance, the flux linkage of each stator pole winding and the developed torque per ampere characteristics of these two types of motor congiguration are determined. The nature of the leakage fluxes and the characteristics of the electromagnetic torque developed are clearly identified. Keywords
