Abstract
Observations on the influence of wind and frost action, made during the INQU A field trip in Alaska in 1965, are reported, discussed and compared with examples from other areas. Among the features discussed are: tor-like rocks, products of mechanical disintegration, nivation benches, V- or U-shaped gullies, solifluxion lobes, pingos, palsas, round or oval ponds, cave-in lakes, thermokarst mounds, thermosuffosion forms, thermo- dolines, thin cracks in frozen loess or sand, secondary deposits of CaCO3, MnO2 and Fe(OH)3.
