Abstract
The relationship between the transverse and the on-axis behaviors of various pupil-plane filters is described. Expressions for general energy constraints associated with these filters are also derived. Transverse and axial diffraction properties of filters with quadratic radial transmittance are demonstrated experimentally. Keywords
