Abstract
Results of a detailed investigation on the time dependence of the stimulated emission from electron‐beam‐pumped ZnO are reported. Unlike the behavior found in CdS, CdSe, and GaAs, no rapid tuning with time of the stimulated emission to longer wavelengths has been observed. A small tuning is observed which is consistent with thermal variation of the band gap. Furthermore, no temporal variation of the angular position of the spatial mode has been observed as is the case with CdSe and GaAs. More conclusive evidence for the presence of lasing action is presented; in particular, the first observation of very‐high‐visibilitv frequency modes is reported. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
