Abstract

National identity occurs in an encounter with cultural difference when and only when that difference cannot be represented to the satisfaction of all concerned: or alternatively, the ‘Australian’ is that which irrupts as anecdotal in a theoretically rigorous exchange. (Meaghan Morris)
