Abstract
Statistics of handicapped persons in 6 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Great Britain [UK], The Netherlands, West Germany) were analyzed, respectively, as to the basic definitions of handicap, the applied survey methods and the publication of survey and results. These surveys were more effective and less biased when clinical-causal and social-final aspects were used defining handicap, when interview data were verified by specialists (physicians) or standardized methods (tests), and when survey and results were presented and differentiated. Examples of good statistics are the surveys in Great Britain and especially those in The Netherlands. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
