Preparation of Phenylacetylene Polymer Thin Films by Photochemical Polymerization

Abstract
Polymer thin films were prepared by photochemical polymerization of phenylacetylene and the chemical structure was investigated. Photochemically polymerized phenylacetylene has few structural defects such as triple bonds left unreacted and is soluble in organic solvents. Its π-electron delocalization is a little more widely extended than that of plasma-polymerized phenylacetylene (P-PPA), indicating that the structure of photochemically polymerized phenylacetylene is much closer to that of polyphenylacetylene synthesized by conventional chemical method.
