Abstract
This paper reports the results of field tests conducted on the Northern States Power Company's 345-kV transmission system which investigated the effects of various system switching operations on transient overvoltages. Following the field tests a transient network analyzer was used to duplicate the field tests and then explore the maximum switching transients which system parameters could produce. Keywords
