“Instant” Blood Sugar Measurement Using Dextrostix and a Reflectance Meter

Abstract
A new “reflectance meter,” capable of reading and quan-titating the color change of the Dextrostix blood-glucose oestimation, has been tested using capillary blood samples from patients attending a diabetic clinic and men having diagnostic glucose tolerance tests. The correlation of these blood glucose results with those obtained with an Auto-Analyzer method was very high (r = 0.98) and replication by the reflectance meter method was also satisfactory.
