Abstract
Pilonidal lesions of the intergluteal area can be managed on an outpatient basis. Treatment consists of obtaining a clean granulating wound and, more important, promoting healing in a warm, moist area of the body which, because of its anatomic location and configuration, lends itself to the accumulation of various foreign bodies, particularly hair. The importance of cleanliness in the intergluteal area is stressed as the basis of preventing recurrence of pilonidal disease. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
