Abstract
A brief survey is given of three standard methods for the assessment of occupational noise exposure currently available in the U.K. Equipment and measurement techniques are described for the determination of equivalent continuous sound level for industrial noise. It is accepted that the “equal energy principle” provides a simple and unified system for the assessment of damage risk and the conclusion is drawn that the noise dosemeter provides a relatively simple method of noise measurement.
