Abstract
Reconsideration of the Emsian brachiopods from parts of central Asia extending from the Lake Balkhash Region easterly through Heilungjiang leads us to conclude that they should be separated as a distinct region, termed the Balkhash--Mongolia--Okhotsk Region, of the Old World Realm. This conclusion was arrived at after considering the high level of endemic genera, plus the significant admixture of genera common with the Eastern Americas and Tasman Realms. Keywords
