Abstract
Cell-mediated immunity was investigated in 15 patients with retinal detachment. Choroid and retina were the homologous proteins with which the patients’ cells were tested by leukocyte migration inhibition (LMI). Retinal detachment can stimulate the production of cellular immunity, as detected by LMI. Approximately 4 weeks are required for LMI to develop. Prolonged or recurrent retinal detachment was associated with LMI after that period in two thirds of patients with retinal tissue as antigen and approximately one third of patients with choroidal tissue as antigen. Keywords
