Abstract
Mean DMFS values for children who were 7, 11 and 13 years of age in 1963, 1972 and 1981 were substantially reduced during the 18-year study period. For 13-year-old children the reduction amounted to 71% from 1963 to 1981. The incidence of dental caries in smooth surfaces was gradually reduced during the study period, but remained unchanged in pit and fissure surfaces in spite of a corresponding 86% reduction in prevalence in the 7-year-old children. Keywords
