Dental Caries in Danish 7-, 11- and 13-Year-Old Children in 1963,1972 and 1981

Abstract
Mean DMFS values for children who were 7, 11 and 13 years of age in 1963, 1972 and 1981 were substantially reduced during the 18-year study period. For 13-year-old children the reduction amounted to 71% from 1963 to 1981. The incidence of dental caries in smooth surfaces was gradually reduced during the study period, but remained unchanged in pit and fissure surfaces in spite of a corresponding 86% reduction in prevalence in the 7-year-old children.
