Abstract
Hollow sapphire waveguides have been successfully employed for remote radiometric temperature measurements over an extended temperature range (30°C to 1650°Q. These waveguides not only exhibit an infrared transmission window from 10 to 17μm, which permits low temperature blackbody detection, but the sapphire also possesses an intrinsic melting point of 2053°C, enabling their operation in high temperature environments. Keywords
