Abstract
This brief survey shows the current state of confusion which surrounds the subject of renal disease in rheumatoid arthritis. More careful prospective work is required to establish the nature and frequency of renal complications, but the current position may be summarized as follows. Definite Renal Complications.(1) Amyloidosis. (2) Reduced glomerular filtration rate (cause not established). (3) Drug-mediated complications: (a) analgesic nephropathy; (b) gold nephritis; (c) phenylbutazone toxicity. Possible Renal Complications.(1) Focal glomerulitis. (2) Obliterative endarteritis. (3) Renal-tract infection ? related to corticosteroid therapy. (4) Reduced concentrating capacity. Keywords
