The Genus Mesolaelaps (Laelapidae: Mesolaelapinae, N. Subfam.) with Descriptions of Two New Species from New Guinea1

Abstract
The females of Mesolaelaps accessoria, n. sp. and M. expansa, n. sp. and the deutonymph of M. accessoria are described. Both species are from New Guinea and each has been taken from a marsupial (or its nest) and a rodent. The historical background, characteristics, and apparent relationships of Mesolaelaps are discussed. A new subfamily, Mesolaelapinae, is established for the genus. A key is given for the identification of females of 9 species of Mesolaelaps.
