Abstract
The problem of the axially symmetric irrotational flow of an inviscid incompressible fluid with a free surface in a circular cylindrical container accelerating parallel to its axis is considered. A numerical procedure is developed and some interesting motions exhibiting the development of breakers, splashing and sustained oscillations of the surface are obtained by machine computation. Keywords
