Abstract
A semi‐active control procedure which utilizes a class of nonlinear auxiliary mass dampers with adaptive parameters is presented. Among the major features of this approach is its simplicity, robustness, and lack of need of a mathematical model of the structure whose motion is to be controlled. Numerical simulation results as well as experimental studies with a simple laboratory test structure (reported in a cited reference) demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach. Keywords
