Abstract
The rates of reaction of propylene sulfide and propylene oxide with aniline have been measured at three temperatures between 30° and 50°. The episulfide is found to be the less reactive and has the higher activation energy. The results are interpreted as indicating a considerable degree of ring opening in the transition state, with the strain energy of the ring providing a considerable portion of the activation energy. Keywords
