Magnetization changes induced by stress under constant applied field in 2% Mn pipeline steel

Abstract
Reversible and irreversible magnetization components have been derived from cyclic stress applied to initial magnetization curves at different magnetization levels and for different stress cycle amplitudes. The irreversible and reversible magnetization components derived were found to vary symmetrically and antisymmetrically with the applied stress, respectively. The variation of the irreversible magnetization component with applied compressive and tensile stresses was found to be in qualitative agreement with the extended Brown's theory of L. Brugel and A. Rimet (1965, 1966).
