Abstract
The growth of a wide variety of eubacteria, three nonmethanogenic archaebacteria, and a yeast was not significantly inhibited by 25 mM bromoethanesulfonate, whereas three methanogenic bacteria were completely inhibited by this compound. We conclude that bromoethanesulfonate is a specific and effective inhibitor of methanogenic bacteria, even when used at this high concentration. This publication has 22 references indexed in Scilit:
