Abstract
Extracts of plasma from normal rats, rats injected with rabbit anti-rat platelet serum (RARPS), nephrectomized rats and nephrectomized rats injected with RARPS were tested in thrombocytotic mice for the presence of thrombopoietin. Only fractions of plasma from unoperated rats that had been made thrombocytopenic by injection of RARPS gave positive results for thrombopoietin. The kidneys apparently play a role in thrombopoietin production. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
