Abstract
Growth, composition and condition of meats were examined for Sydney rock oysters (Saccostrea commercialis) fed diets containing four different types of single cell protein. Significant increases in glycogen content and condition index were obtained with the bacterial protein Pruteen (methylophilus methylotrophus) and the food yeast (Candida utilis). Therefore both these ingredients are suitable for use in oyster fattening diets but for commercial application, artificial diets should be encapsulated. Keywords
