Abstract
This article can help community leaders understand the consequences of industrialization by identifying the costs and benefits of attracting and developing new industry. The direct and indirect impacts of a new industry are examined on private jobs, income, and property, and on government revenues and expenditures. Several research studies also are reviewed to provide numerical guidelines for estimating the overall costs and benefits and their distribution among the private, government, and school sectors of a community. Keywords
