Fungi of the Chesapeake Bay and Its Tributaries V. Aniptodera chesapeakensis Gen. et sp. nov.

Abstract
An ascomycete collected frequently from wood submerged in the estuarine portion of the Patuxent River, Maryland [USA], is described as ANIPTODERA chesapeakensis in the family Halosphaeriaceae. It is most closely related to 2 monotypic genera in this family, Nais inornata and Lignincola laevis; however, it differs from both of them in color and morphology of the perithecium and in ascus and ascospore structure.
