Fifteen strains of L. monocytogenes serotype 5 were characterized for carbohydrate utilization, enzymic reactions and other differential criteria. Hemolytic patterns were tested on ovine, bovine, equine, human and lapine blood agars. Results were compared with those of previously reported strains of L. monocytogenes serotype 5.
