Abstract
The control which the pituitary exercises over the tissues of mesenchymal origin is no less striking than that which the thyroid exercises over the ectoderm. Examples of hypo- and hyper-function of the pituitary are given showing the selective action. Obvious relations exist between the pituitary and mesenchymal tissues: the bone, cartilage, fat, smooth muscle, renal cells, blood vessels. The relationship of the pituitary to the suprarenal cortex is emphasized. Keywords
