Laser-induced grating spectroscopy

Abstract
A description of four-wave mixing spectroscopy in terms of laser-induced gratings is developed, and recent applications of degenerate four-wave mixing spectroscopy to combustion diagnostics are described. Two-colour variants of the technique are also discussed particularly with respect to the development of background-free stimulated emission pumping experiments and novel methods for measuring translational anisotropies of photofragments. Recent theoretical progress in the understanding of four-wave mixing line profiles is also described.
