Improved recovery of chlorine-stressed coliforms with pyruvate supplemented media

Abstract

The addition of sodium pyruvate to standard membrane-filtration media for enumeration of coliforms and E. coli is shown to improve the recovery of chlorine-stressed viable organisms.
