Abstract
ALTHOUGH there have been several important contributions to the literature dealing with the pathology and treatment of malignant melanoma,1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 any addition to the general body of experience with these treacherous tumors is highly desirable. A total of 47 cases of malignant melanoma are in the files of the Tumor Clinic of the Rhode Island Hospital for the years 1932–1948. Of these 26 have been included in a study limited to primary lesions of the skin and mucous membrane.
