Abstract
In recent years, the number of lawsuits against social workers has increased steadily. Although practicing social workers increasingly are aware of their legal vulnerability, they tend to have only a general uneasiness about the problem, nota clear idea of the legal and practice issues involved. Social work educators should provide information about the nature and elements of liability. This article reviews the fundamentals of social work liability and describes how they can be covered in almost any course, but particularly in courses on social work ethics, professional methods and practices, child welfare, and social work policy. Keywords
