Abstract
THE purpose of this address is threefold. In the first place, a review of past changes in maternal mortality in Massachusetts, both remote and recent, will show that they are surprisingly pertinent and should prevent us from losing sight of our objectives or from resting on our laurels. Secondly, a somewhat detailed scrutiny of the present will be made. Finally, a future course of action will be plotted for changing the maternal mortality rate still further through use of statistics, however fallible these may be.The PastA remote but reliable record of maternal mortality in the past is shown . . .Keywords
