Abstract
The Reading Prong is part of the Precambrian basement which is discontinuously exposed in the north-central Appalachians. Precambrian rocks in the northeastern Prong consist of diverse gneisses which were plastically deformed, metmorphosed to the hornblende granulite facies, and intruded by syntectonic granites around 1150 m.y. ago.
