INVESTIGATION OF DIRECT SAMPLE INSERTION AND TUNGSTEN FILAMENT ELECTROTHERMAL VAPORIZATION FOR MICRO SAMPLE ANALYSIS BY ICP-AES

Abstract
Improved techniques of direct sample insertion and tungsten filament electrothermal vaporization were developed and compared in terms of characteristics and limitations. With the former, sensitivity to many elements (including refractory elements) was improved by use of a thin-stemmed cup and freon bubbling. This technique is applicable to both liquid and solid samples and offers satisfactory resistance to various acids. On the other hand, lower detection limits on the pg level were obtained with the latter technique by the optimization of analytical conditions.
