Abstract
A novel aromatic cyclic carbonate (3) having binaphthyl structure was prepared by the reaction of 2,2′-binaphthol with 4-nitrophenyl chloroformate in the presence of a tert-amine. 3 polymerized very efficiently with potassium tert-butoxide at 20 °C to give corresponding linear polycarbonate with 12800 (/ 1.34) in 94% yield. Keywords
